STOPAQ® Wrappingband is a corrosion preventing wrap material adhering extremely well to steel and factory applied pipeline coatings like PE, Liquid Epoxies and FBE. It is capable of coating pipe at a wide range of temperatures and has products for above and below ground pipe.

Stopaq® Wrappingband is a non-toxic, cold-applied, prefabricated wrap coating, based on a compound containing non-crystalline, lowviscosity, non-crosslinked (fully amorphous), pure homopolymer polyisobutene.

Stopaq® Wrappingband is viscous at the indicated operating temperatures. Due to its liquid nature it has a set of unique properties, like cold-flow into all irregularities of the substrate, and self-healing of the complete coating system. The compound does not cure and is unable to build up internal stress. It is fully resistant to water, salt spray and UV-radiation, and has a low gas- and water vapour permeability.

Stopaq® Wrappingband requires application of a polymeric outerwrap like Stopaq® Outerwrap or Stopaq® High Impact Shield. This improves impact and indentation resistance of the coating system and supports the self-healing ability of small damages like dents and cuts. Optionally an additional mechanical protective layer can be applied on top like Stopaq® Polyester, or Stopaq® Outerglass Shield XT Grey.

STOPAQ Wrappingband is a versatile monolithic coating in wrap form for above and underground use. STOPAQ Wrappingband is used to protect objects such as couplings, flanges, lifting lugs, thermite welds, pipelines and pipe joints.

Application

The application of the Wrappingband protects the object fully from contact with water and oxygen and therefore prevents corrosion. STOPAQ Wrappingband is a specially designed and patented hydrocarbon cold-flow polymer product which is supplied in a number of grades, these grades refer to the operating temperature of the object it is applied to. The grades in the range are Stopaq CZ, Stopaq CZH and Stopaq CZHT. The Wrappingband CZ is the low temperature version of the product. It is extremely flexible and provides immediate full adhesion to the substrate at low ambient temperatures. STOPAQ Wrappingband CZHT is suitable for corrosion prevention of high operating temperature pipelines.
